Note: In the 1900 US census, which was taken on the 5th of June, John Heslop 46 and Aurilla 45 had been married for 23 years and had had eight children of whom seven were living. Little John's twin, Moses, had died as an infant.
The children were Martha 22, Robert 19, Sue 15, Nannie 13, Lemuel 10, Aurilla 6 and John three.
John Heslop's work was "proprietor of a machine shop," namely the Heslop Machine Works.
The 1920 federal census finds Bob Heslop at home with his parents and three siblings: Nannie 38, Aurilla 27 and Bill 21 years. Bob's occupation was "book keeper."
Note: Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church for Robert J. Heslop, well-known river authority, who died suddenly at his home at 906 Main St., Thursday morning. The Rev. Jerome Rodgers will officiate.
Pallbearers will be W. W. Riley, Dr. L.S. Corrick, Justin Johnson, Russell Stone, F.W. Ingraham, Capt Phil Elsey, Billy Bryant, Capt. C. C. Stone.
Friends may call at the Heslop home until 1 p.m. when the body will be taken to the Episcopal Church where it will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral services.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Milton L. Miller, Mrs. S.C. Wilhelm and Mrs. A. L. Rossiter of Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Hugo Juhling of Hartford, and one brother, William Heslop, Point Pleasant.
