Norfolk where he had a butcher's shop according to relatives and where their two younger children were born. The same kinsfolk said that Janet had been engaged three times, first to a Mr. Stick, secondly to a Mr. Stone and finally to F. Morter.
Frederick had a brother here [Adelaide] from at least 1892 when a daughter was born to the wife of Samuel R. Morter.
The S.A. Biographical Index shows Frederick as a bookseller and policeman. Butcher not mentioned. Directories follow his career and Places of residence. His first notice was as police constable but by then he was in Victoria. By 1913 his title was official Keeper. Board of Health, King William Street, Adelaide. In 1917 Frederick L. was law Librarian at the Supreme Court Adelaide. his home address being 32 Young Street, Wayville. He still held the same position in 1922 but lived at 22 South Terrace, Adelaide. The year 1934 saw him Superintendent. Supreme Court, Adelaide and home was at 14 Commercial Road, Hyde Park. By 1941, and obviously retired, Janet and Frederick were at 11 Thornber Street Unley Park, considered one of the best addresses.
