I, M.W. Rider, a Minister of the Methodist E. Church do certify that on the 28th day of February 1877 at the home of the bride in Mason City, W.Va., I United in Marriage the above named.... M.W. Rider

This is probably when John Heslop and Aurilla Jarrott Heslop gave their portion of G Heslop's estate to JWC's brother Thayer. Perhaps Thayer needed it, and they didn't.

In 1877 John ‎("Bill")‎ moved to Point Pleasant with his newly-wed wife, Aurilla, where he started working in a machine shop where most of his work was repairing river boats.

In the 1880 federal census taken in Point Pleasant, Mason Co, West Virginia: John Heslop 25, was working in a machine shop. Aurilla, 23, with Martha, 2, was "keeping house."

Taken in June 1900, the federal census taken in Point Pleasant, Mason Co, West Virginia found John, 46, and Aurilla, 45, had seven children at home: Martha 22, Robert 19, Sue 15, Nannie 13, Lemuel ten, Aurilla six and John three. John's occupation was proprietor of machine works, namely the Heslop Machine Works.

The 1910 federal census in Point Pleasant, Mason Co, West Virginia: John, 58, is a machinist in a foundry, while Aurilla, 54, is keeping house for her five children: Robert 27, Nannie 22, Lem 24, Aurilla 16 and William 13. Also living with them is a young boarder who is a machinist in the foundry.

In 1920 Bill and Rilla still have a full house with four mature children at home: Robert 39, Nannie 38, Aurilla 27 and William 21 years.
