Biographical Notes

Hide Details Note: There is a photograph of Guy as an infant held by Mrs. Camfield in the E.M.S. collection. He was educated at St. Peter's Collegiate, and while a scholar there fell under a train lost one foot. He was later fitted with an artificial one. During his convalescence the Curator of the Adelaide Zoo ‎(Mr. Minchin)‎ gave him a monkey as a pet. This made him very popular with his many cousins. His father Oscar had some of the possessions of Guy's grandfather Allen Wilson of Mt. Barker and these included the gold fob with the Wilson crest. As an adult Guy had it copied as a seal ring engraved with a on a red stone and his initials G.C.W. In the 1940s one of his sisters had the ring and sent an impression in red wax to her cousin Violet Stevenson. Guy died at only 32 years of age.

"The widely regretted death of Mr. Guy Wilson took place on June 21st after an operation. He was well known amongst business men being the Adelaide representative of Parsons Trading Company ‎(a paper and machines company)‎ whose head office is in Sydney. The deceased gentleman had charge of the Adelaide branch. His courteous and genial disposition endeared him to his many friends in all states of the Commonwealth. Mr. Wilson who was unmarried was the eldest son of the late Mr. O.S. Wilson formerly of Wilson and Brice, Rundle Street. Adelaide. His mother and three sisters are in N.S.W. and his brother Mr. H.C. Wilson who is in charge of the experimental farm, Werribee, Victoria, survives him."
