In 1851 William was a servant/ag lab. on the property of Mr. Prout in South Petherwin while his daughter was a general servant in the Hamm household in South Petherwin. She would soon marry James Sloggett and move to Australia. By 1861 William lived and worked in the parish of North Hill in Cornwall where he was a servant/herder in the household of John & Joanna Luskey who farmed 336 acres. In 1881, William was 80 years old and still working as an ag labourer. He was a lodger in the household of Mary A. Landry.
