By 1871 the Brooks were in London, Wandsworth at "The Laurels." Vincent 56 was a lighographer, who employed 168 men and 40 boys. Rhoda had two sons at home: Alfred 24 and Frederick 22. She also had the assistance of two maids in the household.

Still at "The Laurels" in Wandsworth in 1881, Vincent Brooks 65 and his wife Rhoda 62, had two adult children at home: Alfred W. 34, Frederick V. 32.

Vincent's sister Harriet Brooks Buttfield 48, a widow, and her daughter, Edith Buttfield, eight years old who was born in St. Helier, were also in the household. There was also a cook and a housemaid.

Vincent was a master lithographer and printer who employed 85 men and 49 boys. Both of his sons were master lithographers, also.
