Hide Details Note: William Alexander and Susan Love had a family of two sons and three daughters. They lived on the farm purchased by his father Thomas Alexander.

William Alexander was one of the first commissioners ‎(1819)‎ of Meigs County and held that office by re-election for several terms. He was prominent in local affairs, magistrate, merchant and farmer. He erected the first store house in Letart township, noted in those days for its elegance, the Mansion house of Letart Falls.

In 1850 William 57, a farmer, and Susan 57 were both born in Virginia. William's real estate owned is valued at 7,800. At home they had Mary E. 22, Marietta Love 10, Elizabeth Alexander 62 ‎(his mother)‎, Daniel Bibee 22 ‎(son-in-law)‎ and Isabella Bibee 20 ‎(daughter)‎.

In 1870 William was 78 yrs and was recorded as "no occupation." He was having a well-deserved rest! He and Lina Woodruff 18 ‎(female)‎ were living with the David and Julia Hopkins family. Julia was William's daughter, and Lina was his granddaughter, child of Mary Woodruff.
