Biographical Notes

Hide Details Note: Ann Morton Anderson may have been the daughter of muslin manufacturer Adam Morton, who in 1841 ‎(born about 1788)‎ lived on Newmilus Street in Loudoun, Ayrshire.

If this is correct, then her mother was Janet 35 ‎(1806)‎, who would have been the second wife of Adam because his oldest child at home was James 25 years old; and Janet was too young to have been his mother. James was a muslin foreman, obviously in his father's factory.

The children were as follows: James 25, Jean 20, Marion 20, Ann 15, Janet 13, Mary ten, Adam nine, Susan seven, Christiana five, Robert three and William four months. The first three children had a different mother because Janet was too young to have borne them.
