Biographical Notes

Note: Malcolm used the surname Robertson after his father died. He became a seaman at an early age and married young but surely not at 16 as a relative's arithmetic would make it. There were two children of the marriage, one died "about the time Malcolm was in America," and the maternal grandmother cared for both at Paisley. The survivor was another Malcolm Robertson who was said to be employed at an engineering works at Paisley in 1888 aged 27 years ‎(which cannot be correct)‎ and married with "several children". Malcolm senior was swept overboard from his ship the "Ismailia" in the Bay of Biscay ‎(this steamship foundered with all hands two years later)‎ on 15 Dec 1870 and Malcolm would still have been under 30.
Death 15 December 1870 ‎(Age 26)‎ Bay of Biscay

Cause of death: Drowned at sea.
