1871: Samuel and Harriet Buttfield were both listed as "General Commision Agents" and had four children: Marsom 14, Florence 9, William J. 7, and Horace five. There was also a 23-yr-old general servant.

Her fifth and last child, Edith Blanche, was born in 1872. After her husband Samuel's death in December 1874, Harriet was responsible for a family of five children.

1881: Harriet, aged 48, and daughter Edith 8 was living with or visiting Harriet's brother Vincent Brooks, his wife Rhoda and their two children in Wandsworth, London.

1901: Harriet, widow, 68, was "living on own means" in Enfield, London. With her were her son Horace V. 35, a photographer; his wife Caroline 36; and Edith B. 28, a "Civil Servant Clerk." Harriet gave as her birthplace London St Giles.
