Note: Joshua and Sarah Ruttencutter moved from Pleasants Co, WV to Mason Co, WV in 1874. We do not know why they moved, but it was probably for employment. They also lived in Meigs Co., Ohio, next across the river from Mason, WV.
Note: In an unidentified short biography of Joshua Ruttencutter and Sarah Bailey, it says that "Joshua and Sarah lived in the Point Pleasant district of Pleasants County, West Virginia. For a number of years they had an apple orchard. My grandfather, Abram M. Ruttencutter, told me about picking apples for his uncle Josh. He said that they packed them in barrels. The barrels were then hauled to the Ohio River and loaded on flat boats for shipment up river to Wheeling, and down river to Cincinnati. There was a sign "Ruttencutter Orchards" on the country road. That was Joshua and Sarah's place. In 1874 Joshua and Sarah moved to Mason County, West Virginia...."
