Shaw, 7th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, a prisoner at Charleston, South Carolina, writes under date of September 18, 1864, to his wife a letter from which we are permitted to make the following extract: "I have at last seen some of the boys of my old company, but very sorry to learn that many of them are dead. Sargent Coffman, Sylvester Clark, Sibley and Charles Kincaid are in Charleston. Clark looks very bad. John....& Corporeton ‎[?]‎, B.D. Gillingham, R. Hutsinpillar, Joseph Henry, George Shields, Bate M... and one other are dead. Sergt. Kerr and one more are in the hospital; next George B. Hack and Alonzo Brown reported dead. The balance of the boys are in tolerable good health. Christopher Berridge's boy is here and well. I have no other news of any importance you that I can think of.
